News Release: Covid-19 Enhanced Cleaning Protocols
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed society; our expectations and how we handle our daily business. Our expectations for cleaning have changed. We now want to see cleaning and not have it happen behind the scenes. IHG has implemented new cleaning protocols.
“As the world adjusts to new travel norms and expectations, we’re enhancing the experience for our guests by redefining cleanliness and supporting wellbeing throughout the guest’s stay.
Launched in 2015, IHG Way of Clean already includes deep cleaning with hospital-grade disinfectants in guest rooms and public spaces, putting us ahead of the curve. To expand and further strengthen IHG Way of Clean standards, we have been working with Ecolab and Diversey to provide higher-impact and more efficient cleanliness solutions that keep our guests and hotel colleagues safe.
We have issued new training, protocols and best practices, evolving IHG Way of Clean into a robust, 360-degree cleanliness response program designed to provide hotels with a comprehensive set of tools, training and equipment to ensure colleague and guest safety.”
Some of these protocols and best practices include, but are not limited to the following practices.
The staff wear masks and gloves.
Hand sanitizing stations are located in high travel areas throughout the hotel.
Markers are on the floor to designate social distancing for guests checking in.
A plexiglass barrier is set up at the counter to maintain safety and clerks ask to view IDs and credit cards to verify information. The guest is the only one handling their cards.
High traffic surfaces are wiped down and sanitized regularly.
We are offering limited housekeeping service to long-term guests. If they need new towels, they may place them outside their room and the staff will put clean towels in a bag and hang them on the door.
Once a room is clean, no one enters it until the guest enters their room.
We follow the IHG way of clean 5-S cleaning program.
