About Us

The Charles County Department of Health strives to move the community closer toward the organization's vision of a healthier Charles County. The services provided ensure the mission to promote safety, protect public health, and improve health and wellness among county residents. Due to the efforts of the department, our beaches are clean, our restaurants are safe to eat in, and infectious diseases are investigated and monitored to stop the spread.
The Department continues to partner with local agencies through the Partnership for a Healthier Charles County, a community health network for sharing information between agencies. The mission of the Partnership for a Healthier Charles County is to serve as a community health network and forum for collaboration to identify and address the health needs of the community. The department along with the partner agencies continue to work together to improve the health outcomes of county residents.
The Charles County Department of Health provides many services to improve the health of the community including; behavioral health services, tobacco cessation education, diabetes education, immunization, dental services, environmental health services, women, infants and children (WIC), disability services, clinical services, cancer prevention, assistance with health insurance, infectious disease prevention education and testing, and emergency preparedness and response planning.
